Tutorial / FAQ

Scam Alert - Yahoo! Accounts For Sale On Dark Web

Recently a well-known hacker revealed that he had stolen login credentials from Yahoo! Further, he indicated that this information was available for sale on the dark web, which refers to online sites where people engage in illegal activities. Yahoo! is aware of this claim and is currently investigating it.

Whether or not the claim turns out to be true, if you have a Yahoo!
account, it's a good idea to immediately change your password. Make sure it's a "strong" password -- one that is 12 or more characters containing letters, capital letters, numbers, and symbols -- that you don't use for any other account. Also, consider using Yahoo Account Key, which replaces passwords with a process that sends a login credential to your phone.

Remember to also have a good security system on all of your devices to guard against malware infections and attacks, spam, and dangerous websites. Finally, watch your financial accounts closely for unusual activity, which can be a sign that someone has acquired your personal information.

Short Tutorial / FAQ - How Can I Download My Facebook History?

Question: After years of using Facebook, I have a lot of information stored there that I'd like to have on my own hard drive. Is there a way to do this?

Answer: Whether you want to leave Facebook but keep a copy of everything you stored there, you want to keep your ongoing account safe, or you want to use the data in other ways, downloading your Facebook history is a good idea. It's also easy to do; here's how:

1. From your Facebook home page, click the down arrow at the top of the screen.

2. From the menu, select "Settings."

3. In the main area of the screen, click "Download a copy of your Facebook data."

4. On the next screen, click the green "Start My Archive" button.

5. Provide your password when asked for it.

6. Next, you'll receive an email from Facebook alerting you that the request has been made, and informing you that you'll receive another email once the download is complete.

7. When you receive the second email, you'll be able to click a link to download a ZIP file of your data.

The file will include your Timeline information, posts you've shared, messages, photos, and much more.
