As the leaves turn and we begin another season, I'd like to wish all of you a happy fall! At Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom, our team is working very hard to continue the evolution of our network. Each and every day, we continue to convert more customers to high-speed fiber-optics. I know the need for additional bandwidth is real as many of us continue to work from home, learn from home, access telehealth services, and use the Internet to stay connected with family and friends all over the world. Building a fiber-to-the-home network in rural areas is extremely expensive, and takes time to engineer, construct and build. Each and every year, we are spending millions of dollars to continue to build fiber-optics to our customers. We were fortunate to receive some broadband grant funding from the State of Vermont that will allow us to build fiber to additional customers in parts of Bolton, Bridport, North Fayston and Center Fayston communities this year.

Please know that all of us at Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom are committed to serve you and are here assist you with whatever you need. I hope you are able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful fall weather and everything Vermont has to offer.

Sincerely,

Eric Haskin
President and CEO
Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom

WCVT Employees Help Local Schools Get Back to School

For many years, Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom's employees and Contributions Committee have donated backpacks and school supplies to local school children. This year, WCVT decided to divide the donations equally among 20 schools in our serving territory who requested assistance. Money donated helped purchase items they needed the most.

Tammy Field, coordinator of the Backpacks for Kids Program, said recently, "We were really happy to help the students, especially in light of the difficulties they're experiencing because of the coronavirus. While we missed picking out the backpacks and schools supplies and delivering them to the schools, we’re just happy to help out any way we can."
